The challenge
Protecting lives at ports and terminals
In 2020, VLI posed a challenge: protect the people who work in high-risk areas of ports and terminals, environments that require Ex-certified equipment. No connected worker device of that kind existed in Brazil. Meeting the challenge meant engineering hardware from scratch.

The solution
About three years of engineering to earn certification
PHYGITALL spent about three years developing the device until it earned certification. The result was Brazil's first connected worker device with Ex certification. In the Proteção à Vida (Protecting Lives) project at the TIPLAM terminal, the solution locates people in high-risk areas and provides area evacuation alerts, SOS calls, and incident management.

The result
Ongoing protection and a path forward
The Proteção à Vida project remains in operation at VLI's ports and terminals, and the company has established itself as PHYGITALL's anchor client.
