Industrial IoT

What is industrial IoT?

Industrial IoT (IIoT) is the use of the Internet of Things in industrial settings: sensors, wearable devices, and dedicated networks collect real-time data from people, machines, and assets. That data becomes operational visibility and supports decisions on industrial safety, maintenance, and productivity in large plants.

The difference between consumer and industrial IoT comes down to rigor. On the shop floor, devices face dust, impact, and electromagnetic interference. In some sectors, they also face explosive atmospheres. Networks have to cover huge areas, and the data feeds decisions that affect people’s safety and the continuity of production.

In practice, industrial IoT connects three layers of the operation: assets, such as tooling and equipment that need to be found quickly; processes, with sensors that measure time, flow, and condition; and people, through wearable devices that provide location, emergency calls, and communication with the field.

The value comes from combining that data. The same infrastructure that protects workers also shows where the production line’s bottlenecks are, how long tooling sits idle, and how crews are spread across the plant. Industrial safety and productivity are no longer separate projects: both come from the same field data.

PHYGITALL builds industrial IoT end to end, with its own hardware and software and a private LoRaWAN network, and delivers both solutions on the same platform: Safeline for workplace safety and Pulse for productivity.
